Free Storytelling and Theatre Workshop – University of Arizona Directing Studio

13 06 2009

Do you have a story to tell? Do you enjoy hearing stories? Join us for a free Storytelling and Theatre workshop and research study!!

A University of Arizona Theatre Education and Outreach Graduate Student is recruiting local community members to participate in a workshop and research study consisting of storytelling and theatre activities, culminating in a public performance.  Participants will take part in theatre exercises focusing on community building, voice, and movement, and explore personal stories from their lives ranging from the story of your favorite pair of shoes, to the story of how you or your family came to Tucson, to the story of your most important meal.  Based on the stories told, participants will also work together to create the final performance.

The graduate student is researching how telling and performing personal stories can empower the research study participants. The workshop will take place on the University of Arizona campus in the Directing Studio, Drama Building Room 116.

Participants need to be available for the length of the project.   The dates for workshop are Wednesday June 17 – Sunday June 21st, 2009.   The specific times for the workshop are Wednesday June 17th– Friday June 19th from 6:00 – 9:30 pm, Saturday June 20th from 12:00 pm – 9pm, and Sunday June 21st from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm.  The performance is on Saturday June 20th at 7:00 pm.

Participants need to be 18 and over. People of all ethnicities, nationalities, gender identities, sexualities, physical abilities, language proficiencies, and generations are encouraged to participate.  No storytelling, theatre, or performance skills or experience necessary.

To whom it may concern,
We are The El Camino Royales!!!!!

In your listing for the Winsett Park gig on August 20th,you’ve left out the “The”.

We have been running into this problem a lot.We realize that “El” in Spanish means the same thing as “The” in English.

However,The “The” is very important to the name of our band…The El Camino Royales!!!!

Please make a note of this for any future listings,as we are very happy to appear in your publication, and hope that we can work together in the future!!!!

Thank you VERY much for taking the time to read this comment,
